Colon Hydrotherapy is also known as a colonic, colon irrigation, or high colonic: colonic hydrotherapy is a safe, effective method of cleansing the colon of waste material by repeated, gentle flushing with water.

The technique of flushing out the colon with water is essentially the same as an enema where water is introduced through the anus and rectum into the colon. Enemas have been extensively used for thousands of years – they were a regular feature of nursing in British hospitals before the First World War – Florence Nightingale even used them in the Crimea!

Modern colonics use a combination of some disposable equipment and hospital grade equipment sterilised using modern, hospital approved sterilising solutions which kill 100% of viruses, bacteria and fungus. Thorough sterilisation is carried out between treatments and fresh towels and linen are used for each client.

I use a low gravity water pressure system as recommended by The National College of Hydrotherapy and the Association and Register of Colon Hydrotherapists (ARCH) so there is no risk of bowel perforation. As a requirement of being a member of ARCH my premises and equipment are inspected regularly.
